4/15/2012 CLUB DEVELOPMENTAL MEET WELL ATTENDED
The Bellport Girls Track and Field Club hosted a Developmental Meet at Bellport High School on Saturday 4/14/2012. Multiple Long Island high school girls teams attended. The weather was the best of the 2012 season thus far. Intense competition was on display throughout the morning and a great time was had by all. Click here to view and order pictures from the event.

4/7/2012 3RD ANNUAL CLUB EASTER EGG HUNT IS A HUGE HIT
The Bellport Girls Track and Field Club hosted their 3rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Bellport High School. Hundreds of children from our community attended and collected over 8000 candy filled eggs. Click here for photos of the event.

3/27/2012 CLIPPERS OPEN LEAGUE SEASON IN VICTORY
The Bellport Girls Track and Field Club opened their League V season with a home victory over Islip 79-71. The next league meet will be on 4/2 at Kings Park.

3/23/2012 R.I.P JULIA NOFI
The Bellport Girls Track and Field Club is deeply saddened by the passing of Bellport Middle School student Julia Nofi. The Club wishes to extend their deepest condolences to the Nofi family. Julia was the benefactor of the Bellport Girls Track & Field Club’s 1st Annual 5K Road Race in Bellport Village on 11/28/2010.

3/19/2012 SPRING TRACK TEAM LOOKS TO DEFEND LEAGUE TITLE
The Bellport Girls Track and Field Club is preparing to defend their League Championship of 2011. Coach Gino Cruz said, “the girls are focused and working very hard to compete in a tough division this spring....we are hoping for exciting results from this squad...”

11/27/2011 CLUB THANKS PARTICIPANTS AND SPONSORS FOR 2ND ANNUAL 5K ROAD RACE IN BELLPORT VILLAGE
The Bellport Girls Track and Field Club will remember not only the unseasonably warm temperature, but the tremendous sense of community and charity that surrounded their 2nd Annual Road Race. Coach Cruz thanked all that made this, “a successful community event that in some small way touch many lives.” On hand was one of the 1st Annual beneficiaries, Julia Nofi and she was also joined by five year old Taylor Macioci (Bellport resident) who is one of the beneficiaries this year. The club was also joined by NYS Assemblyman and honorary starter, Dean Murray. Murray also presented Coach Cruz with a proclamation from the Assembly recognizing the charitable efforts of the club. 09/01/2011 2ND ANNUAL 5K ROAD RACE IN BELLPORT VILLAGE
The Bellport Girls Track and Field Club has received permission from the Village of Bellport to host the 2nd Annual Event in Bellport Village. The Race to benefit scholarships, local residents with cancer, and veterans will take place on Sunday November 27, 2011. 07/15/2011 CLUB SUMMER CAMP WRAPS UP
The 1st Annual Boys & Girls Track and Field Summer Camp was a great success. Campers received instruction in a fun and safe environment. Special thanks to the campers, Coach Cruz and Assistant Coach Lacci.

06/27/2011 CLUB ANNOUNCES FIRST ANNUAL BOYS & GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD SUMMER CAMP

06/23/2011 CLUB AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS
The Bellport Girls Track and Field Club awarded two scholarships to female student/athletes who met prescribed levels of excellence in academics as well as athletics. Caitlyn Pabst and Marina Pettinichi
were the first recipients of scholarships awarded by the Bellport Girls Track and Field Club.

06/03/2011 OUTSTANDING BELLPORT GIRLS COMPETE AT SECTION XI STATE QUALIFIER MEET
Outstanding Bellport Girls performed at the Suffolk County State Qualifier Meet at Connetquot High School. Freshman Sarah Kinard placed 9th in the Pentathlon. Sophomore Arnise Garrison finished 3rd in the 100M Dash. Senior Caitlyn Pabst finished 6th in the 400M Dash & the Pole Vault. Junior Christina Dutcher finished 4th in the 2000M Steeplechase. The 4x100M Relay team of Victoria Rountree, Arnise Garrison, Caitlyn Pabst and Ayeshah Wiggins finished 5th.

05/26/2011 GIRLS COMPETE AT SUFFOLK COUNTY SECTION XI DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIPS @ PORT JEFFERSON
Members of the Bellport Girls Spring Track Team competed at the divisionals and represented their school in fine fashion. Freshman, Sarah Kinard finished 2nd and Sophomore Jessica Pierno finished 5th in the Pentathalon. Arnise Garrison finished 2nd in the 100M & 200M Dashes. Senior Caitlyn Pabst finished 4th in the 400M Dash & 3rd in the Pole Vault. Junior Christina Dutcher finished 5th in the 800M Run & 2nd in the 2000M Steeplechase. Senior Marina Pettinicchi finished 6th in the 3000M Run & 2nd in the 1500M Race Walk. Golda Newby finished 4th in the Shot Put. The 4x 400M Relay team of Christina Dutcher, Caitlyn Pabst, Victoria Roundtree and Arnise Garrison finished 3rd. The 4x800M Relay team of Haley Gibbons, Mariah Charles, Marina Pettinicchi and Bianca Pereira finshed 8th.

05/22/2011 CLUB HOSTS USA TRACK AND FIELD EVENT AT BELLPORT HIGH SCHOOL
The Bellport Girls Track & Field Club hosted a USA Track & Field Club event open to all ages and divisions. The event was well attended and proved to be a wonderful afternoon for all.

05/09/2011 BELLPORT EARN LEAGUE IV CHAMPIONSHIP WITH WIN OVER COPAIGUE
The Bellport Girls Track Team gave an inspired performance in a road dual meet earning a victory over Copaigue and the Suffolk County League IV Girls Spring Track Championship.

05/03/2011 BELLPORT GIRLS VICTORIOUS VS. HHHW
The Bellport Girls Track Team overcame Half Hollow Hills West in thrilling fashion to move into a tie atop League IV. Bellport earned the hard fought victory on the final race of the day. An inspirational performance in the 4 x 800 by Haley Gibbons, Jessica Pierno, Marina Pettinichi and Bianca Pereira secured the victory for Bellport.

05/03/2011 BELLPORT GIRLS SENIOR DAY - LEAGUE DUAL MEET
The Bellport Girls Track Team returns to league competition with a dual meet against Half Hollow Hills West today @ 4PM at home. Today will feature special ceremonies honoring the teams upcoming graduating seniors.

The Bellport Girls Varsity Track Team traveled to Westhampton Beach on Saturday to participate in a well attended invitational track meet. Special thanks to the Westhampton Beach High School Track Staff for putting on a great event.

The Bellport Girls Varsity Track Team participated in the Port Jefferson High School Steeple Fest on 4/20/2011. The well attended water splashing event took place at one of the most scenic venues on Long Island.

04/11/2011 BELLPORT GIRLS RETURN TO LEAGUE SCHEDULE WITH VICTORY
Coming off an exciting weekend, The Bellport Girls Varsity Track Team registered their 2nd League III victory with a strong team performance against West Babylon 80-70.

04/09/2011 BELLPORT GIRLS HOST DEVELOPMENTAL MEET
The Bellport Girls Varsity Track Team hosted a developmental meet on Saturday which was attended by fifteen track teams. The competition was excellent and the Bellport Athletic Department delivered a great experience for all in attendance.

03/29/2011 BELLPORT GIRLS FALL TO RIVERHEAD IN LEAGUE III MEET
Despite a determined effort, the Bellport Girls Varsity Track Team fell short against a talented Riverhead team 71-79 in League III competition.

03/25/2011 BELLPORT GIRLS OPEN SPRING SEASON WITH A VICTORY
The Bellport Girls Varsity Track Team opened their League III season with a victory over winter indoor champion North Babylon 78-72. Led by the strong performances of Arnise Garrison and Caitlyn Pabst, Bellport edged past a strong North Babylon team.

01/24/2011 BELLPORT GIRLS @ BELLPORT VILLAGE BOARD MEETING
Coach Cruz and Bellport Girls Track & Field Club addressed the Bellport Village Board. The team offered thanks for hosting their 1st Annual 5K Road Race and made a video presentation. Cruz delivered heartfelt thanks and petitioned the village board to host the Bellport Girls Track & Field Club 2nd Annual 5K Road Race, November 27, 2011.

01/21/2011 BELLPORT GIRLS SET TO COMPETE AT YALE UNIV. CLASSIC, NEW HAVEN, CT
Team departs Bellport on a stormy Friday morning to compete at the Yale Classic in New Haven CT.

12/23/2010 BELLPORT GIRLS DELIVER FOR VETERANS
In December 23, 2010 members of the Bellport Girls Track and Field Club got an early jump on the jolly man in the red suit. The student/athletes put their schedules on hold to fulfill the promise they made at their successful fund raising 5K Race in Bellport Village on November 28, 2010. Under the supervision of Bellport High School Girls varsity track coach, Gino Cruz, team members visited the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in Bronx, New York. Club members arrived bearing gifts of needed clothing items such as gloves, hats, etc. “Our fundraiser included three very important objectives, one being to assist veterans in need” Cruz said. “I am so proud of the outstanding manner in which the girls represented themselves, their school and the South Country community.”

Many team members admitted to not knowing what to expect from the visit. Varsity track tri-captain Marina Pettinicchi said, “We knew that bringing needed gifts for the holidays would be a nice gesture, but we had no idea how moving the experience would be. There were many great stories exchanged.” Pettinicchi went on to describe the joyous atmosphere that evolved as her teammates began to sing Christmas carols to the patients. Tri-captain Caitlyn Pabst said, “I will never forget this trip. The holiday visit and conversation were genuinely appreciated as much or more than he gifts we delivered.” Tri-captain Anissa Rivera said, “I am so glad we made this trip. I always looked at veterans as just soldiers in a uniform. We learned so much about the real men behind the uniforms. I will never think of veterans the same way.”

Cruz chose this particular facility because one of his coaching mentors, Steven Lewis, is being cared for at this hospital. Lewis, a twenty year Army veteran, left his position coaching track at Longwood High School as a result of his illness which has left him completely incapacitated. “Although physically challenged, Steven, has honorably served his country and has a tremendous passion for track and field that I wanted to share with the team,” Cruz said.

The team plans to make two additional post holiday visits to Veterans facilities in Stony Brook and Yaphank. The club has already made a donation to the family of Julia Nofi, seventh grade student at Bellport Middle School who is battling Leukemia. Additionally, the club plans to award scholarships to deserving student/athletes at the Bellport High School graduation ceremony in June.
